HOW TO USE
-
UsageIdeal for use on properly prepared interior or exterior wood, concrete, and primed metal such as porches, patios, breezeways, and basement floors. Not for use on exterior wood decks, garage floors or other automobile parking areas.

PrepGeneral: Read the Lead Warning paragraph. The surface must be clean, dry and free of all loose or peeling paint. Thoroughly clean surface and remove wax and grease with an all-purpose cleaner (TSP or substitute). Remove gloss from previously painted surfaces by sanding. Wood: Rough or repaired wood surfaces should be sanded smooth. Prime bare, new wood with Valspar® Exterior Latex Primer (165219). Prime badly worn spots on old wood with a thinned first coat of Valspar® Latex Porch & Floor Paint. Concrete: Allow surface to cure at least 60 days before painting. New, unpainted or smooth-worn concrete must be etched with a concrete cleaner, degreaser and etcher for proper penetration and adhesion. Follow all label instructions. After cleaning, degreasing and etching, apply 2 coats of Latex Porch & Floor Paint — the first coat thinned with 1 pint of water per gallon (473 mL per 3.78 L) of paint and the second coat as normal. Etching instructions: New, unpainted or smooth-worn concrete must be etched with a muriatic-acid solution for proper penetration and adhesion. Before preparing acid solution, READ ALL CAUTIONS AND WARNINGS on acid packaging. Wear appropriate protective clothing, goggles and rubber gloves when handling acid. Mix 1 quart of muriatic acid with 1 gallon of water. Flush floor with acid solution. DO NOT BREATHE VAPORS and make certain there is good ventilation. After 30 minutes or when acid solution stops bubbling, rinse with water while scrubbing floor with stiff broom to remove all powdery residue. Allow to dry. Metal: Remove rust and prime all iron and steel with Valspar® Armor Anti-Rust Primer (21852).

ApplicationMix well before and during use. If using more than one container, intermix all cans of the same color. Use a premium-quality, polyester brush for small area (stairs, etc.). For large areas, pour Valspar® Anti-Skid Porch and Floor Paint coating in a long, continuous bead across the "shorter side" of the surface. Spread the product uniformly with a premium-quality, 1/4" or 3/8" nap roller and finish with long, even strokes in one direction. After drying 24 hours, apply the second coat if necessary or desired, at a right angle to the first coat — again finishing with long, even strokes in one direction.
