Valspar Interior Latex Multi-Purpose Primer is a white pigmented primer/sealer formulated for sealing surfaces and stains prior to topcoating. The water-base formula is low odor; an ideal feature for indoor uses.

Where to Use

Use primer indoors or outdoors to seal stains such as watermarks, smoke damage, surface burns, graffiti, lipstick, grease, rust stains, tannin bleed and mildew stains. Ideal for use over properly prepared wood, drywall, plaster, metal and masonry.

Clean Air Formula

According to the U.S. EPA, "volatile organic compounds (VOC's) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOC's include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. Concentrations of many VOC's are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors." In addition, VOC's are a contributing factor to ozone, a common air pollutant. Preparing Your Surfaces

Clean and dry surface thoroughly. Scrub stained areas with an all-purpose cleaner to remove any residual stains. Remove all surface dirt, chalk and mildew. Tannin stained areas on wood do not need special surface preparations. For fire damaged areas, remove burned or severely charred areas to sound wood surface. Sand smooth. For mildew stains, this product will seal residual stains from old mildew, but will not resist active mildew growth. All active mildew must be removed from surfaces prior to application by scrubbing affected area with a commercial mildew remover or a solution of 1 part liquid chlorine bleach to 3 parts water. Rinse thoroughly. Wear protective goggles and rubber gloves to avoid chemical contact with skin or eyes.
