Woodlawn — Indulge in Handsome Splendor

Capture the spirit of one of the most tumultuous times in American history with these luminous pastels inspired by Woodlawn. This handsome 126 acre estate in Alexandria, VA, was originally part of George Washington’s Mount Vernon.

Completed in 1805 for Washington’s nephew, Woodlawn was sold to two Quaker families in 1846. They established Woodlawn as a “free labor colony”, making it a target of Confederate forces during the Civil War. After surviving decades of war, weather and neglect, Woodlawn was restored in the early 20th century. In 1952, it became the first historic site owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation®.

Craft your own sense of history with these inspirational colors from what is now affectionately called “America’s First Family Home”.
